Sonic Characteristic
Sonically, the AK-47 MkII is a remarkably hi-fidelity microphone with
a "present" but not "harsh" character, a forward mid-range, and a
detailed low end response. Designed to take the punch of the heavy sound
pressure level of a guitar amp or kick drum, it still has a delicate
and intimate air that is usually found in more expensive microphones
Circuit Design
The amplifier found in the AK-47 MkII features a new proprietary
circuit designed around a NOS EF732 / 5840W vacuum tube, and a custom
output transformer that is an exact replica of the historic BV8
transformer found in new TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik and vintage U47 and
U48 microphones. The dual sided large diaphragm TK67D capsule undergoes
rigorous testing in our laboratory prior to installation in the AK-47
MkII, and again during final testing and burn-in of the microphone
Construction
The AK-47 MkII’s steel headgrille mesh and brass base ring are
finished in a reflective chrome plating, giving the microphone a unique
look and vibe. The aluminum body tube is finished in a black protective
hard coat and is engraved with the microphone model name and serial
number. A black and silver TELEFUNKEN diamond logo badge is featured on
the front of the microphone
